Davison Township (Genesee County) Date Established: 1840 Population: 19,575
Located at the edge of Genesee County, Davison Township is the link between Flint and Lapeer with its own airport and thriving businesses next to the I-69 freeway and M-15 corridor.
Davison was inhabited by the Ottawa and Chippewa Indians when Judge Norman Davison came to the area with his four sons in 1831, began a sawmill, and the little town grew. Davison was and still is a farming area but has flourished into a community of making dreams come true. With a budding Downtown Development Authority, historical Kitchen School, Veterans Memorial, a park with a waterfall pond and 4.2 miles of trails, for which we have received the Silver and Bronze Michigan Fitness Foundation award as part of the Promoting Active Communities Program, Davison area residents can walk and bike in a natural setting.
In early 2011 our community residents approached the Supervisor, Kurt Soper, about a dog park. Dogs, after all, are universal conversation starters. Research was done and a 3 acre parcel of township property, near the Black Creek Trail, was provided for the Davison Area Dog Park. The Grand Opening was held on October 2, 2011.
We encourage everyone to stop by and revel at the wonder of dogs and their owners doing what comes naturally….pawsitive outdoor living.
