Mr. Soper has lived in the area his entire life, graduating from Davison Schools and winning a Congressional Appointment to U.S. Merchant Marine Academy graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1964.  He was employed with the Flint Board of Education for 30 years.  He was appointed to the Governor's Task Force on Alternative Education and featured in a White House Conference on Children.

He was elected to the Davison City Council from 1988-1992 before being elected to the Davison Township Board of Trustees in 1996.  Kurt became township supervisor in 2000.  He is the Co-founder and past-President of the Davison Area Environmental Team and currently serves as the Chairman of the Genesee County 9-1-1 Consortium.  Kurt has been married to Marge for over 40 years; they have two sons, Matthew and Michael.

The supervisor is frequently the first official contacted regarding any township business or complaints and is often perceived as the township spokesperson.  It must be realized, however, that the authority of the supervisor is limited to that provided by statue or delegated by the township board.  The supervisor is the moderator of any township meeting and votes on all issues upon which a vote is required.  He is considered the chief executive officer for the township.
