Supervisor:
Kurt D. Soper

Kurt has lived in the
area his entire life and has worked for Davison Township since 1996.
He served on the Board as a Trustee before he was elected the supervisor
in 2000 and his re-election in 2004. Kurt has been married to
Marge for over 30 years and they have two sons, Matthew and Michael.
The Supervisor's office
is responsible for:
-
seeing that all laws and
Township Ordinances are enforced
-
the chief assessing
officer and is required to prepare an assessment roll covering all the
taxable real estate and personal property within the Township
-
to manage and supervise
all public improvements, works and undertakings of the township
-
the Township's agent
transacting all legal business
-
to have charge of the
construction, repair, maintenance, lighting and cleaning of streets,
sidewalks, bridges, pavements, sewers, and all public buildings or other
property belonging to the township
-
preparing the annual
budget and presenting it to the Board of Trustees for their approval
-
police and fire services
-
managing and supervising
the operations of Township utilities
-
human resource/personnel
and employee benefit functions
-
insuring that terms and
conditions imposed in favor of the Township, or it's residents, in any
public utility franchise (or any contract) are faithfully kept and
performed
-
to attend all township
board meetings with the right of the superintendent to discuss issues, but
not vote
-
to act as the purchasing
agent for the township or, under his responsibility, delegate such duties to
some other officer or employee
-
to conduct all sales of
personal property that the township board may authorize to be sold
The Supervisor also, is the
moderator of any meeting of the Board of Trustees; may call special meetings of
the Board of Trustees; appoints members to the Planning Commission and Zoning
Board of Appeals; recommends
to the Board of Trustees candidates for appointment to other Township
commissions and boards; and may recommend to the Board of Trustees for adoption
such measures as deemed necessary or expedient; and is the media contact person.
